ALDER H44
The H44 is a world class ribbon microphone that will give you excellent recordings on almost any source. It was designed to be as much of a studio workhorse as any large diaphragm condenser. Made in small batches in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the mic features a versatile patented transducer and ribbon design that offers a combination of sound quality, durability, and affordability that is difficult to find in the world of ribbon mics.
The H44 has an asymmetric figure 8 polar pattern, and we like to think of it as a vocal ribbon mic from the front and a traditional ribbon mic from the back. The front voicing has a unique presence that does well with vocals and close miked instruments. The back voicing has more of a classic ribbon openness that does well on a large variety of sources such as overheads, guitar cabinets, strings, brass, room miking, and more. The combination of the two voicings creates a versatile package that is quick and easy to adapt to a wide variety of instruments and situations.
ALDER H44S - Symmetrical Version
For those who prefer a symmetrical ribbon mic we offer a variant of the H44 called the H44S. Both sides of the H44S sound very similar to the back side of the H44 with a slight increase in low end. The H44S also comes in a black logo instead of brass.
